First Impression of IS 101

My first impression of IS 101 was being shocked because of the overwhelming amount of information that is present when doing things online. From online etiquette to applying rules on emails to send them to a specific folder. There is a lot of information that I never would have thought about. Although some of the techniques learned may not be used in everyday life, it will surely make life easier on some people and it will make the internet a professional place for people to feel safe and learn. After finding out how much information is present in this course, I am excited to learn more in IS 101.

  2. Agreed, I am just surprised at the fact that most of these things have always been there and the thing is that we are becoming aware of all of the details that are in them.
Also I love the way that you made your blog look like. It looks amazing!

  4. I've been in a bubble or something because I didn't realize how much I didn't know and still don't know. This will be a good semester

  5. The rules in Outlook so far has been a great lesson as it helps organize and de-clutter emails.

  8. This course definitely has my largest workload between my other courses. It holds the most potential for "out of class" utility I'll say at least. Not to say that my other course skills are useless, but they are more niche and specific to their field, whereas IS can be used in any number of applications in and out of professional settings.

  9. I agree that it was overwhelming, but I think the assignments are easier than expected in my opinion. I can't wait to learn more in the class.

  10. The volume of information you have to handle is pretty fierce, for sure. Pretty much every work environment is like that these days, though, so...I mean it's realistic, then, right?

  12. When we learned how to enable rules onto our Outlook email, I found that very helpful and even started using what we learned outside of class and into my work life.

  13. The information is definitely overwhelming...I agree. I have never been tested on a syllabus before. It was necessary though. I learned quite a bit doing that task. It also tells me that I need to pay attention when I read.

  15. The impression I got was "What the heck is IS?". Come to find out its a huge portion of my degree and never even knew! The work load can seem overwhelming at times, but do not let it discourage you. Keep working as hard as you can!

  17. The work load is a lot to get used to but I believe setting your own deadlines so that you have time to get ahead is a good way to manage that.

  18. The course definitely deems like a lot at first! but, one thing I quickly realized is that everything goes hand-in-hand. So, if you follow everything in order, it is really easy to understand and progress.
